Abstract

We present a preliminary first measurement of the correlation between the energies of the leading B hadrons produced in Z^0->b bbar decays. The measurement was performed using hadronic Z^0 events recorded in the SLD experiment at SLAC between 1996 and 1998. The small and stable SLC beam spot and the CCD-based vertex detector were used to reconstruct B decay vertices with high efficiency and purity. They also enabled us to measure B hadron energies with good efficiency and resolution over the full kinematic range. In events with two tagged B hadrons, we calculated moments of the 2D energy distribution and compared the measured correlation with a leading order QCD calculation and with the Peterson fragmentation model.
