SLD Mission Statement

The goal of SLD is the physics analysis of Z particles produced with the SLC, in sufficient quantity and quality to make significant contributions to the understanding of particle physics. Subsidiary goals include education of students, and research and development of detector technology.

This goal requires the successful operation of much of SLAC, but particularly requires high luminosity operation of SLC with polarized electrons, and completion and operation of the detector.

SLD has a long range interest in e+ e- physics at high energies, and it will work towards the realization of the Next Linear Collider from the standpoint of the machine and detector technologies.

It is the policy of the SLD Group to comply with and support the laboratory's requirements in Environment, Safety, and Health matters.
